Why God’swill Akpabio Declared Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Seat Vacant

Senate President, Senator God’swill Akpabio, has declared the seat of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, vacant and asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election to fill his seat.

God’swill Akpabio declared Governor Monday Okpebholo’s seat vacant because he bade farewell to the Senate on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, following his election as governor of Edo State.

This is in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

As reported by Channels Television on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Senate organised a valedictory session for governor Okpebholo and urged him to continue his good works during his tenure as governor.

On the other hand, the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, appreciated the senators for the roles they played to ensure he becomes governor, GNtv Reporters learnt.

He recalled the experiences he garnered, saying they would help him lead Edo well.

He also urged members of the 10th Senate to be proud of themselves anywhere they find themselves.
