Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has warned detractors to stop tarnishing the state’s image, emphasizing that such actions harm everyone in the state. Gov. Fubara made this call on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, during the commissioning of the Kalaibiama Road in Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area.
Governor Fubara, accompanied by Alabo Senator Adawari Michael Pepple, declared that Rivers State belongs to all its residents and urged everyone to contribute positively to its growth. He condemned those who openly seek to undermine the state, calling such behavior “barbaric.”
“This is our state. What we owe this state is to contribute to its betterment, not to run it down. God has a way of punishing those who choose to act against its progress,” Gov. Fubara stated.
Honoring Lost Leaders
The governor expressed sadness that three prominent figures from the area, who were instrumental in the project’s conception, were not alive to witness its completion. He dedicated the project to Hon. Daniel Legg-Jack, Hon. Adonye Kelly Diri, and Hon. Dagogo Eli Legg-Jack, praising their contributions to the community.
Reply to Senate President Akpabio
Alabo Senator Pepple took the opportunity to respond to recent remarks by Senate President Godswill Akpabio against Gov. Fubara’s leadership. Pepple criticized the comments, describing them as unwarranted and uncharacteristic of the Senate’s dignity.
“Gov. Fubara’s achievements speak for themselves. He has commissioned 28 roads totaling 291.36 km and renovated 38 health centers within just 18 months. No administration in the past 18 years has delivered as much,” Pepple said.
Infrastructure Development and Gov. Fubara Future Plans
Gov. Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development, highlighting that the Kalaibiama Road project connects Opobo & Unity Road. He assured Nkoro residents that their turn for project inauguration would come within six months. Speaking further, he said every part of the local government feels included in his administration’s plans.
Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte, commended the governor for transforming rural communities. Similarly, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam, thanked the governor for prioritizing their area and pledged the community’s continued support.
