Siminalayi Fubara knocks Wike, pledges support for Gov Bala Muhammed as PDP crisis deepens

In the wake of a recent public spat between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has emphasized his dedication to fostering harmony within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). As the Deputy Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed his determination to work closely with Governor Mohammed, the Forum’s Chairman, to strengthen the party.

During a condolence visit to Bauchi State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed the cordial relationship between Rivers and Bauchi states under Governor Mohammed’s leadership. The visit was to console Governor Mohammed and his family over the loss of his stepmother, Hajia Hauwa Mohammed.

Siminalayi Fubara highlighted the importance of unity in the PDP and the need to address challenges within the party constructively. “We are committed to repositioning the PDP. It’s time to take bold steps to address issues and move the party in the right direction,” Fubara stated. He underscored his resolve to support Governor Mohammed’s leadership and expressed confidence in their ability to achieve lasting reforms.

Fubara also emphasize the shared vision between River/ Bauchi, noting that both administrations prioritize collaboration to achieve the party’s goals.

Responding, Governor Bala lauded Governor Fubara’s gesture, describing it as a testament to the strong bond between the two leaders. He commended Fubara for his efforts in reclaiming Rivers’ PDP political structure, noting the support provided by the party’s NWC. Governor Mohammed assured continued cooperation to ensure justice, equity, and truth prevail within the PDP.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to minimizing discord within the party and pledged to work together to advance its mission.
