Rivers State Commissioner for Health Assesses Healthcare Facilities in Andoni LGA

Andoni, Rivers State – The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, led a team on an inspection tour of healthcare facilities in Andoni Local Government Area, reaffirming the state’s commitment to improving medical services.

Before heading to Andoni, the team made a brief stop at Bori Zonal Hospital to assess ongoing renovations. The visit aimed to evaluate progress and ensure timely completion of the work.

Upon arrival in Andoni, Dr. Oreh and her team inspected Ngo General Hospital in Ngo Town. Established in 2003, the facility serves as the only general hospital in the LGA, providing essential healthcare services. It comprises male and female wards, a children’s ward, a labour ward, an operating theater, an antenatal clinic, a treatment room, a casualty unit, a laboratory, staff quarters, and chalets. However, the hospital has faced challenges, including shortages of personnel, medical equipment, and essential supplies.

During the visit, Dr. Oreh, accompanied by hospital leadership, including Dr. Faith Orji, engaged with staff and reassured them of the Rivers State Ministry of Health’s commitment to restoring the facility to full operational capacity.

Before departing for Port Harcourt, the team, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, conducted an unscheduled supervisory visit to the Model Primary Healthcare Centre in Ngo. With the facility situated in a flood-prone area and the rainy season approaching, discussions centered on operational challenges and sustainable solutions to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
