Rivers State Boosts Immunization Efforts with Cold Chain Equipment Donation

The Rivers State healthcare sector has received a significant boost yesterday as Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, accepted a donation of cold chain equipment from the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), a sub-group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The handover ceremony underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in improving healthcare delivery. Speaking at the event, Dr. Oreh highlighted Rivers State Governor Fubara’s commitment to fostering impactful collaborations as a cornerstone of the state’s healthcare strategy.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Oil Producers Trade Section, the 25 Nigerian companies, and the five International Oil Companies (IOCs) that form this trade section,” Dr. Oreh stated. “Your contributions will directly enhance the quality of immunization and child health services across Rivers State. This is especially impactful for our remote and hard-to-reach communities, which are often neglected due to the capital-intensive nature of delivering logistics to the last mile.”

The cold chain equipment is set to play a pivotal role in maintaining vaccine efficacy, particularly in underserved areas, thereby improving health outcomes for children statewide.

The donation marks another milestone in Rivers State’s ongoing efforts to ensure quality healthcare for all residents.
