Prominent lawyer Liborous Oshoma has warned that Rivers State Gov Sim Fubara could face impeachment if he continues to spend public funds without an approved budget.
In a Monday interview, Oshoma criticized the presentation of the state budget to only four members of the House of Assembly, calling it a clear violation. “The presentation of a budget to just four members of the Assembly is an aberration,” he stated.
He explained that if the courts later rule that the budget presentation was invalid and the Gov Sim Fubara persists in spending public funds without proper re-presentation or approval after six months, it could constitute grounds for impeachment.
Oshoma emphasized that the governor’s authority should not be undermined or limited by the actions of a small group of legislators, urging adherence to proper budgetary processes.
