Yesterday, the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison led dignitaries to celebrate the birthday of Rt Hon Evans Bipi at his residence in Port Harcourt. During the event, Ehie Edison addressed aggrieved supporters of Governor Sim Fubara.
You will recall that a prolonged power tussle between Nyesom Wike and his successor Sim Fubara led to deep divisions within the Rivers State House of Assembly and key supporters of the Government. In response, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a six-month State of Emergency in March 2025, suspending Fubara, his deputy, and the State Legislature, as well as appointing a Sole Administrator.
However, after Gov. Sim Fubara reconciled with the FCT Minister, there seems to be an ‘unrest’ among supporters of Gov. Fubara over the reconciliation process.
In this light, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison assured ‘aggrieved’ supporters that no one will be left behind. “Now that our principal [Sim Fubara] has given a direction, we must be loyal. Our family is known to be one, and we must continue to be.
“So those who are spreading rumours have failed. Sim Fubara remains the governor of Rivers State. I tell people that the greatest test of loyalty is inconvenience. If you say you are loyal to the Governor, you must follow his footsteps”.
