News emerging from Jigawa State has it that over 573 active members of the ruling All Progress Congress (APC) have successfully defected to the opposition People Democratic Party in an event held in Dutse town on Friday.
The 573 defected members of the APC were from Sabuwar Dan Masara town in Dutse. This was confirmed in a news update by Punch Newspapers.
During the ceremony, Mustapha Adamu (shugaba), leader of the defectors from Madobi ward said the reason behind their decision is nothing more than desire to seek a positive change, citing the hardship in the country.

Mustapha Adamu criticized the APC led government for lack of inclusivity and disregard for the needs of the people.
“We can no longer continue to be part of a party that has abandoned the principles of fairness and justice. We are convinced that the PDP is the party that truly cares about the welfare of Nigerians and will work tirelessly to address the challenges facing our state and country”, Mustapha Adamu said.
In conclusion, Mustapha Adamu urged other APC faithfuls who share their concern to follow suit and join the People Democratic Party. “We invite all like minded people to join us in this journey towards a brighter future for our state and country. Together, we can achieve greatness.
“We are confident that the PDP will emerge victorious in the next elections, and we are eager to contribute to the party’s success”, he concluded.
Welcoming the defectors to the PDP, Umar Danjani, the deputy Jigawa State chairman of the PDP said, “Today, marks a significant milestone in our journey towards building a stronger, more United party.
“We are thrilled to welcome our new members and look forward to working together towards a brighter future for our state”.
