Marrakech, Morocco – Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh has been formally recognised as an Amujae Leader by former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first female head of state, during the closing ceremony of the Ibrahim Governance Weekend 2025, hosted by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

Held in Marrakech, the ceremony marked the induction of a new cohort of 13 African women into the Amujae Initiative, a flagship program founded by President Sirleaf to empower and elevate women leaders across the continent. As part of the traditional welcome, Dr. Oreh was decorated in a Liberian ceremony led by President Sirleaf herself.
In addition to receiving the honour, Dr. Oreh joined a panel discussion titled “Alumnae Reflections: Elevation and Impact,” where she spoke alongside fellow alumna Malado Kaba of Guinea. The session highlighted the evolution of their leadership journeys, both personally and professionally.

Dr. Adaeze Oreh reflected on her entry into public service, the influence of the Amujae Initiative on her leadership style, and the strength of the sisterhood fostered within the program. She emphasized her commitment to continued growth and her dedication to supporting other women leaders across Africa.
Former President Sirleaf inspired attendees with a powerful message: “The future belongs to us, because we have taken charge of it. We have the commitment, we have the resourcefulness, and we have the strength of our people to share the dream across Africa.“
